Photography inspired by Leathers by Deftones

Another of my favourite songs is Leathers from Deftones' latest album.
Here is a little exert of the lyrics of their song:

Shedding your skin, showing your texture, time to let

Everything inside show
You're cutting all ties now and forever, time to let
Everything outside you
Shed your casing, show your lines and shapes
Wear your insides
On the outside
Show your enemy
What you look like
What you look like
From the inside
From the inside

I think this song can have several meanings and I've been trying to thinking of a way to portray some of my thoughts about the song onto the canvas of my body. I've gone with the idea that someone's identity is changing to reveal one's true self, or one's mask is being taken off to reveal their true identity. This can either be a reaction to something or one's own choice. It's taken some time, but I finally remembered something that I could use for this experiment. So here is my take on it. Please let me know what you think!

Art work inspired by Change (In the House of Flies) by Deftones.

Disclaimer: Please look away if you do not like creepy crawlies.

This artwork is inspired by one of my favourite songs by Deftones. Recently I've felt that the meaning in this song has reflected a certain part of my life. The song is about how people can change and the fly in this photo represents something that was once something I wanted to take in or swallow, but is now something that makes me ill and something that repulses me, almost like poison. This is not an explicit sexual reference but more to do with the closeness and bond you have with someone. I guess if in the song, it's the person that has changed in to the fly, then you could said the fly is like a drug too which is now causing you pain rather than happiness. I took both photos myself, including the fly with a macro lens.

Here is the song if you'd like to listen to it:

London at Xmas Time

Had a lovely catch up at Le Pain Quotidien in Covent Garden today with some good friends today. It was needed after a really difficult week. Here are some pictures from my day out.
